Dan Hughes came to Lawrence in the fall of 1987 to attend KU and like many that fell in love with Lawrence, stayed for decades. Now based in the gravel riding epicenter of Emporia, KS, Dan is probably more Kansan that anything else, but claims he “grew up in Colorado” because that sounds cooler.
A photographer since his days in high school, Dan has spent equal time being a father, taking pictures, and riding bikes. He considers himself a journeyman in all those pursuits. Being a mechanically minded sort, Dan appreciates that photography blends artistry with technical processes for a result that passes for pleasing. Because he can’t draw to save his life (although he’d like to).
